News: SoniqueX has returned!
SoniqueX news SoniqueX has returned. I don't know where we're going yet, but damn is it good to be back!

First things are first:
Congratulations to Matt and his wife Abbey on the birth of their first daughter, Lexi! Matt is very excited to be a new dad, and I wish him and Abbey all the best!

Now onto the new (again!) SX:
There might not be much to be excited about right now, really, but I have always felt that SoniqueX needed to return. Soon, the return will be complete and we will need to decide what we want to do.

I love this place, and I love the community. If the feeling is that there really is nothing to be done here, I have no problem maintaining it, and just posting the occasional news item. I still think, however, that we can be more than that, but I myself have done little to none in the vein of Sonique since the end. So I am asking that anyone who has any feelings on where we should go, let them be heard!

Maybe it is somewhat ironic that the last skin posted in the underground section here was Phoenix. Can SoniqueX be like the Phoenix? From the ashes rises something beautiful and strong. I think it can happen.

Jacoby out!

First post! Hopefully in a series of many. First order of business. Let's take donations and purchase a VB install, then we need to remake the skin from the Original Sonique.com forums, THAT'LL bring back some nostalgia for sure. :D

I feel a little weird about taking any donations for anything with no real plans in place, to be honest (I don't know how seriously you meant that anyway) and honestly I will be owing about $120 for the hosting in about a month and would sooner put any of my money to that than to vbulletin. Since its just going to be a mock-up anyway, I see no reason to not usu php-bb.

annex1's commentsat 9:52pm, 6th Sep 2007
I was really only half-serious about using vB, as we can port the skin no doubt. You could get donations to help with hosting.

Blur's commentsat 3:31pm, 9th Dec 2007
I could always host it for free (or near enough to)... lemme know.
annex1's commentsat 10:59pm, 3rd Sep 2007
Ooops, and my sincerest congratulations to Matt and Abbey on their new addition. Hopefully a life of greatness awaits her. :D p.s. make her middle name "Mantis". ;)

It's nice to be back. Oh, how I missed this place! I like your ideas btw annex ;)
zalez's commentsat 6:14pm, 4th Sep 2007
How did you get logins working Jacoby?
zalez's commentsat 6:21pm, 4th Sep 2007
question, since sonique is no longer, would we get in trouble for hosting the builds?
-->
annex1's commentsat 9:51pm, 6th Sep 2007
I believe we would. Unless it is freely accessible from another public site, in which case maybe we could get away with it. We wouldn't be making any money off of it.

Here's a big part of the answer though: Does anyone know what happened with Tony and the "legal matters (lawsuit?)" that I had been hearing rumblings about?
-->
zalez's commentsat 11:00am, 8th Sep 2007
I too would be interested if anyone has any contacts with Tony to see what all has happened.
-->
The_Ripper's commentsat 3:59pm, 9th Sep 2007
The contact with Tony is no problem, the only problem though is that he never was very clear about the issues surrounding the rights on Sonique (probably because he was not at liberty to say anything about it). They were trying to get the code back I think, but as far as I know, they didn't succeed. :( As for hosting the builds, if softpedia still offers it (or some other big shareware/freeware thing hoster) there should be no problems if we do I think.
-->
zalez's commentsat 5:19pm, 9th Sep 2007
so anyone willing to ask Tony for specifics?

I dont think it matters at all, but last I heard Lycos settled with handing back the sonique.com domain and handing over the source. Lycos still own the source aswell tho so if either can use the source at the point it was at and branch from that into their own projects. I am not sure who actually has the source after that or what they intend to do with it(most likely nothing)

Haha, I randomly decided to click on my old soniquex bookmark today, not expecting to find anything. Anyway was just excited to see the old site back up that I actually dont have anything else useful to say.
zalez's commentsat 7:44am, 17th Sep 2007

I wonder if anyone who knows how to read korean can download it and see if they changed anything.
jacoby's commentsat 6:16pm, 22nd Sep 2007
Google translate does a decent job with that page, and as best as I can tell that page is only on Daums site by coincidence, really. It looks like that is essentially a Korean download.com type site, and has nothing to do with Sonique or Daums own products at all, really.

You can see in either version, they still link to the dead Lycos website, and the download file is the same as what we had when every thing ended.
The_Ripper's commentsat 2:12am, 23rd Sep 2007
Yup, unfortunately that seems to be the case and there s no email or something I can find to try to bug the people at Daum.
Sontung's commentsat 2:41pm, 20th Oct 2007
Hi guys, i don't think you remember me. i was just a newbie at the old sonique forums. but i've been lurking and reading your posts here for 6 years, since i was still at high school and now i'm going to graduate from uni. but anyway, i just wanted to say hi and again nice to see all old loyal forums members here :)
p.s. there used to be a nice guy called 'pepitoe' and a girl 'angel something_i_don't_remember' (to whom you behaved very rude :) and a guy who had an avatar which looked like a pile of shit, don't know if they're still around :)
jacoby's commentsat 8:34am, 22nd Oct 2007
Hi Sontung. I'll admit I don't remember you really, but its still good to have you here. I'm pretty sure most of the somewhat more mean spirited forum members have not made it to SX, as of yet so I would be pretty surprised if anyone here at the moment was rude to someone who didn't really deserve it.
Anyway, I did a little looking and believe I have found a website actively run by the very same pepitoe, so I went ahead and sent him a message. Hopefully he will show up around here soon.

And again, welcome to SX! Please stay for a while. :)
