What is Sonique2?
Sonique2 is not a dishwasher, it doesn't vacuum, or cook dinner. It is a media player built under the most robust skinning engine ever conceived, MANTIS. It is capable of playing almost any music format file out there. The formats it doesn't support right out of the box can be added with plugins.
Why is Sonique2 taking so long to develop?
Sonique2 was originally the brainchild of Andrew McCann. After some financial setbacks at Lycos, most of Andrew's Sonique team was laid off, and for personal reasons, Andrew decided to leave. John Colton was assigned the task of continuing where Andrew and his team left off. Now, John is also gone from the project.
Where other media players have the luxary of three or four member teams, Sonique2 is being developed by no one. It took John a few months to get his footing, but development had been moving at a brisk pace. Even as a beta, the product is stable enough to be the default player for many people.
Lycos, the owner of Sonique, has recently been bought by Daum Communications, hopefully this change will be good for sonique.
Do I need to know MML to make a skin?
The answer is generally yes. There are resources such as Revil's remote generator. But if coding is a major problem take advantage of the XChange and someone will probably be more than happy to help you out. There is also Travelians new tutorial, which you can find on out tutorial page
Where is this Sonique Community you keep talking about?

What is possible with s2 skinning?
Short answer....LOTS! Sonique 2 is very flexible, just check out all the different skins and remotes on DeskMod. This is just the tip of the iceberg folks!, the skinning language is being improved and expanded every version opening new doors for the skinners to improve and expand their skins.
What isn't possible?
As I said above, as long as you can imagine it, Sonique probably can do it. Possibilities range from multiple audio outputs, to animation effects, games, and much more.
What format can my images be in?
Images can be in PSD format, BMP and JPEG.
What is the difference between a skin and remote?
Skins are the main interface of the media player. Remotes are intended to add additional functionality to skins. IE Minimodes, external playlists, or whatever you wish. Be creative :)
What is MML?
Mantis Markup Language (MML) is sonique 2's scripting language.
Can I have animation?
Of course! Sonique 2 supports many various types of animations. We will be helping more with these as time goes by.
If I'm supposed to use the .PSD format for my skins, do I need to buy photoshop?
Nope! If Photoshop is a bit to complicated for you you could always try the more simplistic Photoshop Elements or JASC Paint Shop Pro.
How do I install Visuals?
At the moment sonique 2 supports only sonique 1 visuals. Simply take the .svp files and paste them into your "vis" folder located in your sonique 2 directory.
Who are you guys?
We are a band of escaped circus monkeys. After breaking free we met up with our leader "Mojo Jojo" and have been bent on world domination since. Unfortunately those pesky Power Puff Girls keep foiling our plans, so we developed this help site to keep busy till our next diabolical scheme is set into motion. MUWHAHAHA!!!!!!!
