| matt8066's commentsat 5:32pm, 2nd Oct 2004 | | btw...join the revolution, www.spreadfirefox.com ...i would be willing to bet that google releases a browser based on the mozilla code...that will really eat into IE's share!
| Revil's commentsat 5:22am, 3rd Oct 2004 | | hm its not bad, but sry, it can't reach the greatest browser ever, opera...
Test it for a week...
www.opera.com
btw, google supports also opera:

| Survivor's commentsat 12:57pm, 3rd Oct 2004 | | opera might be better but i prefer mozilla as its free.
| Revil's commentsat 4:11am, 4th Oct 2004 | | i am willing to pay an accetable fee for very good software as opera... so i did.
(and i would have paid for sonique2...)
| annex1's commentsat 10:34am, 4th Oct 2004 | | I far prefer FF over Opera, but that is my preference. There is no reason on Earth anyone should have to pay for a web browser. Again, a large company sapping Humanity's greatest resource for cash. FF has never let me down (or crashed for that matter).
I've never liked opera at all. But i love firefox (mostly because of the awsome extensions people write). The more I've used firefox the more i've liked it. Plus its skinable
| annex1's commentsat 12:13pm, 4th Oct 2004 | | The extensions kick ass. There really are some useful and generally cool extensions to download. The best of course being FoxyTunes, and Adblock
| Revil's commentsat 3:38am, 5th Oct 2004 | | heh, i tried Firefox for some time, but it seemed always like Internetexplorer Plus to me... Speed and stability was ok, but it is just not as comfortable as Opera to me, which looks like a whole new way to experience the internet. I admit, that at first, Opera may seem like a program, like any other, nothing special. But its like Sq2 (only difference is that there is a big team developing it ) if u look under the hood, u can find sooooo many options and stuff....
U can customize almost everything in Opera, plus i love the integrated M2 Email Client (I didn't like the Mozilla Email Client which looks like an Outlook Clone and is not really integrated into the browser) But i think it is really most about preferences. Both browsers are definatly better than IE
Yes,Opera is really comfortable, especially the mouse gestures.Opera is even faster than FireFox.
I also tried the new Maxthon, wich is based on internet explorer But with an amazing armada of features:he is skinnable and comes also with mouse gestures.Plus it can even stop the flash advertising that are so annoying on some sites.
Firefox has mouse gentures, tabed browsing, etc. Opera doesn't offer anything that the mozilla folks dont.
| jacoby's commentsat 12:36pm, 5th Oct 2004 | | Im definately on the Opera side on this one.
I do use firefox sometimes, but I find when I use it, I just try to make it opera. If I want everything in my browser to act like opera, best bet is to use opera.
If you click on a link in FireFox,it opens sometimes the link in another browser window while Opera always opens them in tabs. The purpose of tabbed browsing is to eliminate the browser windows wich is not true for FireFox.
This is what makes Opera very comfortable.
well jacoby uses Opera there is good reason not to.
forcefield there is an extention and i think an opition to make it so all links will open in new tab
| annex1's commentsat 2:47pm, 5th Oct 2004 | | Firefox opens them in a new browser window if the site directs it to, it is following the commands written in to the code. The extension to make FF do open new windows in a new tab instead, is very small in size, and works very well. It's called Single window.
| 0zz's commentsat 6:01pm, 5th Oct 2004 | | what i really like about opera is its email client. it's a lot better than thunderbird. the startup time sucks though, and that annoying 100% height bug.
Extensions? This is something that I missed or new, maybe in version 1.0 only. The last FireFox that I used was V 0.9.3.
I will re-download the browser again and try to find these new extensions. If FireFox acts like Opera then I will surely use it especially with the 'Grey Modern' theme that I really liked. It's good to have a browser that do not display ads in front of you.
Extensions have been around since this browser was called Firebird. Probably longer.
| vjay's commentsat 12:55pm, 6th Oct 2004 | | K-meleon is faster than Firefox but it doesn't has extension support.I can't live without Adblock.
Those extensions ROCKS!!!
One of my favorite is the QuickNote Sidebar.I sometimes create new text files and copy paste text to them but the QuickNote made it really easy.
| Revil's commentsat 10:08am, 7th Oct 2004 | | opera has it all without extensions
| kourge's commentsat 11:56pm, 7th Oct 2004 | | Firefox rocks...a lot!
| elpres's commentsat 4:24am, 8th Oct 2004 | | Opera ru1ez , it has so much stuff packed in 3mb (browser, mail, irc, rss). Firefox is ok, but I miss things like cookie blocker or proxy switcher (for the cases when proxomitron cuts too much from a site) available through f12-menu in opera. I prefer Thunderbird for email though, simply because it can compose html mails, and m2 can't.
opera and FF both rock...I personally prefer opera but FF is still good, the only thing FF has over opera is that it's compatible with gmail but with the latest opera beta that's no longer a problem...
 | oh and I'm happy as long as both of them crush IE to the ground

Hahaha! The 'Browsers war' subject is always fun not only in this forum but also in all the forums.
When it is mentioned it always makes a huge trail of comments and replies. It's funny .
elpres I think there is a FireFox extension that is a Proxy switcher.
After 2 days of playing with Firefox I was able, thanks to the extensions,to reproduce the Opera behavior but I still find Opera faster and easier to use.
The two browsers a really heavy weight champs.
I think that I will use them both.

 | | annex1's commentsat 1:45pm, 8th Oct 2004 | | Everyone mentions how "superior" Opera is to FF, but let's remember, it's taken Opera this long to get to be the browser it is. FF is still only a release preview, so technically a Delta.
It can only go up from here. And there is always a possibility that, with FF creating a scare for most other browsers, that Opera may consider what they are charging.

It's FireFox fault this time .
Ok,this is how it happened:
I was writing the comment in FireFox and when I pushed the submit button an error message popped up telling 'Document contains no Data' ,then the browser stopped all activities.Thinking that SoniqueX didn't accepted the reply I then pushed the submit button again but the same error message appeared. It repeated itself again 2 times until it was accepted.
I don't think that this error is from FireFox but from my network configuration.
Sorry!

| Revil's commentsat 3:51pm, 8th Oct 2004 | | hm i think the choice of browser is similar to the choice of the car in many ways... each one prefers different setups and weights different points more or less... thats why so many brands can sell their cars, and i think that will always make it possible to have many different browsers...
btw, u ever tried Firefox oder IE Setup for Opera? One Click and Opera behaves like these browsers ;P

| kourge's commentsat 10:51pm, 1st Nov 2004 | | Anyway, I use Firefox.
